Where’s the fic of Coach Beiste going to Puck’s house and talking with his mom about how bright of a boy he is and how it would mean the world to him if she came to his graduation?

And his mom would be all ‘he’s graduating? Oh my god I thought this day would never come’ because that she’d heard he’d failed his test and she didn’t know what to do cause she loves him so much but she sees so much of his dad in him and she was so AFRAID-

But he’s proven her and himself wrong, he’s made it, and he’s going to continue making it, and she’s so PROUD of him, and of course he would go to his graduation she wouldn’t miss it for the world. She doesn’t even tell him, because he hadn’t told her, just gets all the information from Beiste and shows up as a surprise and it’s the happiest day in both of their lives.

And something in the Puckerman family heals this day when he looks out into the crowd and he sees his mother, sees that even though he’s pushed her away, even though he thought she didn’t care, she’s THERE, and it’s only a small thing, but it’s enough, and maybe they could be the family they should be. Maybe they could heal what his dad broke.

After the ceremony he’s beelines for her, doesn’t even wait for his friends, cause his friends can wait, this is his MOTHER and she’s there for him. They hug, and she can barely speak, but she chokes out somehow that she loves him SO much, and she’s so proud of the man he’s become. His sister is there too, and he picks her up and spins her around while she says something like ‘congratulations assface’ into his ear where their mom can’t hear, because she’s still young, but she’s picked up some things from her brother even though he’s tried to be on his best behavior at home.

This is his family, it’s incomplete, and broken, but he loves them, and they love him, and right now this is the best moment of his life, more than the graduation itself, because they’re together and he never thought they would be, and he swears he’s going to do everything he possibly can to heal the rift between them, because if he can pass that stupid test with a C- then he can damn well take care of his family.

Piece of cake.
